The paradox of choice

The first two paragraphs were very relatable. There is so many options now in today’s world. There are too many options to choose from. She was struggling to find the right pair of jeans and i struggle to find the right pair of jeans too. But not only with jeans, but with what to eat what to wear when to exercise I have problems making decisions in general.

However, by vastly
expanding the range of choices, they had also created a new problem that needed to be solved. Before these options were available, a
buyer like myself had to settle for an imperfect fit, but at least purchasing jeans was a five-minute affair. Now it was a complex decision in which I was forced to invest time, energy, and no small
amount of self-doubt, anxiety, and dread.” Her mindset for stores to have more options is a little on the negative side I believe. But she is correct to an extent you do spend more time on what pair of jeans is right for yourself. The Author is basically making a claim that we have way too many options therefore causing us to feel overwhelmed and may lead to clinical depression. That if we tend to have too many options or choices to make that we may somehow tend to choose something we did not want at first because we were anxious about making the choice.

Now I will have to disagree with the author just a little. I full heartily believe that we should be able to have many and a lot of choices. Just because it makes people overwhelmed or insecure is their problem. Choices is what helps a person grow. If we did not have choices then we would just be still almost floating around in the world.

Choices are a fundamental thing in humans. Yes life may be easier if we had less of choices and decisions to make, but it would also be more boring. I actually like having options and being able to try something different. I completely understand what the author is trying to say, but I do disagree with them.. Maybe it is my modern brain talking against their boomer brain. Choices and decision making is just very important to growing up. It helps all of us be more unique and different from one another. Which is what we want we want to be equally unique. I believe we are doing a fine job at that.
